Airports & Airport Transfers
New York is serviced by 3 main airports: LaGuardia (in Queens), JFK International (East Brooklyn) and Newark Liberty International (in New Jersey). The Doubletree Guest Suites is located in Midtown Manhattan at the corner of 47th St. & 7th Ave. All fares quoted below are accurate as of September 2, 2009.
From LaGuardia Airport to Midtown Manhattan:
Distance from hotel: 12 miles, Drive time: Approximately 40 minutes
Taxis can generally accommodate 3-4 people under a single charge, so in many instances this may be the least expensive option. Depending on traffic, $16-$26 plus tolls.
Shuttles - Super Shuttle Door-to-Door Service, $15 - $22/pp; New York Airport Service Express Bus (may not leave you near your hotel), $10-12/pp
From Newark Airport to Midtown Manhattan:
Distance from hotel: 13 miles, Driving not recommended
Train/Subway or Train/Taxi - This is the best Newark option as drive time is not a factor in the commute. At Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station, take a NJ TRANSIT or Amtrak train to New York Penn Station. Train fare $15 ($5 surcharge if purchased on train). Connect from Penn Station to the NY Subway (fare $2), the closest stations to the hotel are Times Square (4 blocks), 50 St Station (4 blocks) - see NYC Subway; or you may decide to take a fast and inexpensive cab ride directly to the hotel.
From JFK Airport to Midtown Manhattan:
