We are please to support this scholarship in honor of lifelong volunteer and former New York Texas Exes President, Allan Sih

2010 Scholarship Recipients Report From Campus

“My first semester here is going awesome! I love living on campus. We live in the San Jacinto residence hall. The room is really nice and feels like home. I love how the dorm is right next to the stadium. On game days, we are right in the middle of all the action. I love being a part of the Austin community. In my first few months here, I've been able to explore the city quite a bit. One of my favorite parts of the city is down by the lakes and rivers. Thank you again for the scholarship. I'm loving my time here in Austin. I can't picture myself on any other campus and part of the reason I'm here is due to the New York Texas Exes.” - Kaitlin McIntyre, Freshman

“I'm still getting used to the way college works. I am taking some good classes and some very difficult classes. Austin is one of the most amazing cities ever! My parents came in for parent’s weekend and we went to 6th street, the warehouse district, South Congress Area, and all over the place. There is so much to do. I've even adapted to the Texas lifestyle and bought a pair of cowboy boots.” - Alison Pomerance, Freshman

“The weather (although on the warm side for my liking) has been stupendous. It is sunny and warm and beautiful every day. I have been spending a lot of late hours studying at coffee shops. School has been very different this year- a lot more work and a whole lot less play but I am still enjoying it.” - Alex Meltzer, Sophomore

“I am loving it here! 6th St is AMAZING and the football games are so fun. I've been exploring Austin and I like getting to know a new city. It's very different from New York. I don't necessarily miss New York, but being away from home just makes me appreciate it a lot more. I look forward to coming home for Christmas, I'll have to come check out some of the Texas Exes events!” - Shannon French, Freshman

“I'm an elementary education major, and I love all of my classes. I was able to jump right into some courses that are directly connected with my major. I've also joined a club in the education school called Teachers of Tomorrow, which concentrates on community service and preparing new education majors for their professional development sequence during their junior and senior years. I love the Texas pride and Longhorn spirit which overwhelms the city of Austin. It is an amazing place, and I am so happy to be here. Thank you so much to the Texas Exes New York Chapter. I am so grateful to be learning at the fun, exciting, and prestigious University of Texas! I appreciate all of your support.” - Elexa Antweil, Freshman
