New York Texas Exes Officers
Holly Barton, NYC Seminar Chair:
Originally from Round Rock, TX, Holly graduated from UT in December 2001 with a B.S. in Geology and teacher certification through the UTEACH program. She's been in NYC for three years working as a museum educator, teaching and training volunteers at the American Museum of Natural History. Holly joined the NYTE Board in August 2007 and has been very involved in event planning. She's looking forward to organizing the 6th annual NYC Seminar 2009, a program that brings over 60 UT undergraduate students to NYC over spring break to network, meet prospective employers, and learn what it's like to be a Texan living and working in the big city. Holly says that the best thing about living in NYC is constantly experiencing moments when you think, 'This could only happen in New York!'
Vanessa Caballero, President-Elect:
Vanessa served the NYTE as Co-Chair of Events last year. She graduated from UT in 2006 with a B.S. in Public Relations. She is originally from Garland, TX and has been living in NYC for the past 2 years. Vanessa now works in Human Resources for UBS Investment Bank where she works as a campus recruiter. She is a die-hard Longhorn fan and is looking forward to watching some Texas football with all of you this fall!
Leigh Cole, President:
After two years of NYTE involvement, Leigh is very excited to serve the NYTE as President this year. She was previously involved as President-Elect, NYC Seminar Chair and Events Chair. Leigh is originally from Alvarado, TX, and graduated from UT in 2004 with a Bachelor's of Journalism. She has resided in NYC for over three years and currently works as a Senior Editor at Chameleon International, a continuing medical education company. Leigh loves her huge family of Texans in NYC and can't imagine the Big Apple without 'em.
Tracy Garrison-Feinberg, Treasurer/Scholarship Chair:
Tracy has resided in Brooklyn since June 1999. She graduated from UT way back in the 20th century, earning a Bachelor's degree in secondary education in 1988 and a Master's degree in US History in 1990. Tracy taught at Johnston High School in Austin for five years, and then she moved to Boston to work for Facing History and Ourselves, an international educational organization that supports humanities teachers. While in Boston, Tracy served as secretary and Vice-President for the Boston Texas Exes. She tried to sneak quietly into New York without being noticed immediately by NYTE, but the Boston chapter president tipped off NYTE well in advance. She's been active ever since, serving as Newsletter Editor, New York Cares Team Leader, College Fair Organizer, Scholarship Chair, and most recently, as Treasurer. Tracy currently works at Facing History with teachers all over the greater New York metro area and spends whatever free time she has with her wonderful husband Kevin and their darling daughter, Samantha.
Paul Kim, Texas Exes Business Network Co-Chair:
Paul graduated from UT with his MBA in 2003. After working in Dallas for several years, he decided to move to NYC in May 2007. He's been involved with NYTE since August 2007 and hails from Springfield, Missouri. Paul's favorite thing about NYC is the people watching - the city attracts the world's best and craziest of everything, and then by its density, forces you to interact.
Eric Ling, Texas Exes Business Network Co-Chair:
Eric earned his B.S in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and also earned a Master's in Business Administration from UT. He served in the Army as a Combat Engineer Officer for five years and also spent five years at GE Aviation as a Sales Support Director. Eric just recently moved to NYC and is a Vice President at Rosenzweig Financial Services. In his spare time, Eric enjoys playing golf, basketball, exercising, yoga, running, and watching the Longhorns!
Jaqui Ramos, Assistant Treasurer/Philanthropy Chair:
Originally from Houston, TX, Jaqui graduated from UT in 2004 with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Latin American Studies and a minor in Portuguese. She has lived in NYC for over 1.5 years and currently works as a staff accountant at Related Companies, a real estate development company. This is her second year of involvement with NYTE, and Jaqui is very excited to be taking on the additional role of Philanthropy Chair this year.
Lauren Rinkey, Public Relations Chair:
Lauren graduated from UT in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She is originally from Minneapolis, MN and has lived in NYC for three years. Lauren served as the NYTE Public Relations Chair last year and will continue her role next year. She currently works as a Coordinator, National Events and Public Relations at The ABSOLUT Spirits Company. Her favorite thing about NYC is the good food and best delivery services!
Chad Robertson, Athletic Events Chair/Webmaster:
Chad graduated from Texas in 2003 with a B.A. in English and German. After spending 2.5 years in Germany, he moved to Brooklyn in January 2007 and now works for the External Relations Department at CDS International, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young professionals work and intern abroad. Chad enjoys a cold beer with friends, road trips, and reminding his Sooner-roommate that OU sucks.
Melanie Schnuriger, Membership Chair/Secretary:
Melanie currently works as a Product Manager at CondeNet, the online division of Conde Nast. She graduated from UT in 1997 with a degree in Marketing. Melanie is originally from San Antonio and has lived in NYC for almost 3 years. She was involved in NYTE last year as Secretary and will be adding Membership Chair to her responsibilities this year. Melanie finds it amusing that almost everyone can tell you the date they moved to NYC - her anniversary is 10/31.
